I’ve been fascinated with crops circles for many years — those magical, mystical, geometrically perfect formations that show up in the fields of England like like clockwork every summer. I’ve even been to county Wiltshire to walk around in them and have wanted to write about them for a long time but it wasn’t until our recent turbulent times in the U.S. that I figured out my angle.

The View from Above (pilot script; hour-long cable / streaming series)

When mysterious crop circles appear in the fields of Indiana, sparking awe and fear as amazing phenomena occur, a New Age healer realizes she has a deeply personal connection with the formations, and she’ll need to let go of her own judgments and self-doubt so she and her friends can figure out the messages to save their already-fractured community.  She couldn’t heal her mom – can she save her town?

Here’s a cool 90 second teaser, directed by Vickie Sampson!

I heard a story on NPR about a small hazmat cleaning crew and thought, boy, I’ll bet they have stories to tell.  But then I thought, wait, just cleaning up isn’t a story.  Helping clean up the crap that CAUSED the crap – people’s mistakes, bad decisions, fears – that’s got story potential.  Then there was one more element I wanted to add:  I have the ability to touch objects and see something interesting about it or the owner – and I thought, what if the person doing the clean-up has that ability and that’s how she guides the perpetrators into cleaning up their lives – if they’re willing.

The Cleaning Crew (pilot script; hour-long cable / streaming series)

A small hazmat clean-up company in L.A. tackles toxic situations. The team is headed up by former crime reporter Bo Anne Wexler, who’s found a new way to channel her do-gooder energy — oh, and she’ll be cleaning up messes caused by her family members, too.

Well before the “Me, too” movement, Rebecca Klingler and I came up with this idea — having had our share of wacky moments as women in the entertainment industry.

The Calamities of Jane – Season One – Web Series — 11 episodes http://thecalamitiesofjane.com/

Jane Singer is a Hollywood actress of a certain age who believes her dreams are still worth fighting for. Whether it’s navigating auditions, ageism, cocktail parties, crazy day jobs or strange suitors, Jane proves that fortitude is victory by holding on to her Midwestern values and not letting the nutballs or cynics win. Yes, Jane overcomes daunting obstacles daily. Hourly. Including herself. Jane Singer: too nice to succeed, too tenacious to give up.
